At Ocean View Dental, we can help you explore a variety of options to address missing teeth. We understand that teeth are important and a missing tooth can cause our patients feel embarrassment, aesthetic concern or can also disrupt their verbal communication and facial expressions.
There are several options to replace missing teeth and the best choice of replacement will be discussed with each patient.
Dental implants are the closest thing you can get to a like-for-like replacement for missing teeth in terms of both functionality and appearance. A dental implant is essentially, a titanium screw which is placed in the jawbone of the root of missing tooth. Once an implant has been placed and has fused with the jawline to form a secure foundation, a crown is made which attaches to the top of the screw to form the ‘tooth’ which will act, look and feel similar to a natural tooth. This fixed option allows patients the more natural tooth replacement option. When constructing implants, we can replace either 1 or multiple missing teeth.

A dental bridge can replace one or more missing teeth by suspending a false tooth from the natural teeth on either side. A typical dental bridge requires two crowns which are secured to the natural teeth. Dental bridges are highly durable and will last for many years without treatment or replacement if they have been maintained well. It is a great permanent fixed solution which after completion feels and looks like a natural tooth.

A denture is a replacement option which is removable. This means that the whole denture can be removed from the mouth for cleaning. Although patients can still eat with a denture in place, the types of foods eaten may need to be softer as the denture teeth are weaker than our own teeth. We offer several types of dentures and our dentists will guide you as to what options are available to you. When constructing dentures, we can replace either 1 or multiple missing teeth.
